Green Island Western Food

Invited Review/Advertorial
Hands up if you love Western cuisine!  Green Island Western Food serves a variety of wallet-friendly meals at their cozy restaurant.   Serving speed was quite fast during our visit which made most of us think it is a suitable place to drop by for a decent meal on working days.  There are also four parking places made available in front of their lots to their customers.

Spicy Thai Chicken Chop
RM10.20
Recommended by the restaurant owner is their sweet and spicy Thai inspired sauce with their fried chicken.  The generously glazed sauce definitely complimented the crispy chicken.  A serving dedicated to those who enjoys spicy food.

 BBQ German Ham Sausage
RM12.80
Despite the simple look, we could tell that Green Island put effort into making up this dish by presenting all their best food on a plate.   The homemade garlic bread is lightly toasted, not exactly crispy but then it was just enough to let out the garlicky flavours a garlic bread should have.   As for the mash potato, it was pretty simple but we enjoy the smooth texture of it.  The main highlight of this lip-smacking dish is their grilled jumbo sausage wrapped with ham coated with their smoky sweet BBQ sauce.

For those who dislike deep fried food could opt for their grilled poultry which is obviously a healthier option yet still delectable.

Grilled Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce
RM 10.80
Everyone's favourite dish during our review session.  Nothing could really go wrong with black pepper sauce.  Agree?  However if you have low tolerance at handling spicy food, this dish might not be a good choice for you.  Perhaps you can opt for the other sauces such as their Garlic Sauce.

 Grilled Chicken with Garlic Sauce
RM10.80
Beautifully drenched in their aromatic garlic sauce is another choice in their grilled selection.
 Fish Maryland
RM12.80
For those who love their Fish and Chips, Fish Maryland is like a premium version of that since it also has deep fried fish fillet as well as tartar sauce which also goes well with their fries.  Green Island present their Fish Maryland with a deep fried banana and a ham wrapped sausage.
Cream of Mushroom Soup
RM3.00
Just add RM1.20 to make your meal a set lunch or either order their creamy mushroom soup as a starter would be a great way to kickstart your meal.

                                                                    Salad
RM5.00
Mash Potato
RM2.00

Limited Edition Flower Pot dessert
We got excited digging into this dessert.  Take note that this pot is not filled with only ice cream but it has layers of cookies and banana cake in it which gave a little treasure hunting moment while enjoying.
Their The One outlet has a very spacious dining space downstairs as well as upstairs.  Besides that, for those who wants to organize a party or gathering Green Island branch also has a private room if you must know.

Usual dining space

Private Room
Perfect place for a private event.  They also have a verandah with few tables outside.

Sunset in Paradise @ Tree Monkey | Starbucks Batu Feringghi

Welcome back lovelies!
Doing away with all commercial breaks atm and let's enjoy the sunset.
Yes this is on our lovely Penang Island which busy bees like us might or might not notice such a scenic view despite it is there for practically every single day.
As I have always wanted to just stop and stare at such gifted scenery, decided to bring along my partner in crime to dine at Tree Monkey (just right beside Tropical Spice Garden) at Teluk Bahang.  As a token of appreciation for her being so kind to follow her bff for the entire day throughout my convocation with the annoyingly hot weather, driving her all the way to the place for one of hers as well as my own favourite cuisine and view is not too much right?
#ootd #ootn
Come let's go in for a feast!
Specially reserved corner with my partner (not we are not lesbians) since I have made a reservation one day before.

Sabai Tomyum
(Lemongrass, lime juice, chili & kaffir lime leaves)
Absolutely loving this concoction since lemongrass is one of my all time favourite whether it is in the form of scent or taste.  The lime juice made this entire juice a prefect refreshing drink to sip through while enjoying the view awaiting sunset.

Monkey Juice
(Mango, banana, pineapple, orange & basil leaves)
Eileen's order.  Not too bad since it has tropical flavours but I still prefer my choice for this time.

Fyi, tree monkey is not just a name but as its name implies, there are actually monkeys swinging here and there.  Dining here is like watching a monkeys' live performance.  No worries they are all tame ones and occasionally squirrels chasing around could be seen as well.
As we were too lazy to decide what to eat, we straightaway went with the couple set after deciding our drinks.
Kickstarted of meals with Tapas
Spring roll was the only favourite tapas for me, pandan chicken was a total disappointment for me as I have had super flavourful ones at Khun Thai previously and their's was rather blunt without any 'pandan' fragrance, thai fish cake nothing to complain but nothing to rave about as well & lemongrass skewer was okay but nothing out of the ordinary that I was expecting for.  I'm sorry but not sorry. :P
Kang Kung
Rated as one of the best dish in the couple set, certified by both equally picky diners.  Adequate spiciness, aromatic and flavourful shrimp paste yet remaining the crunchiness of the Kang Kung.  Good to go with warm plain rice.

Lime & Chili Seabass
Absolutely loving the lime and chilli sauce, great blend of sourishness and hint of spiciness garnished with some mint leaves.  However, we find the fish to be overcooked and was not really fresh to be used for steaming since it tasted a little fishy which was a spoiler to such an amazing appetising sauce.

Tomyum Seafood Claypot
One of the main dish to determine whether a Thai restaurant is fit to be called as one fo me is determine by their Tomyum.  Although this was not the best I have had still love how theirs have a milkier consistency and generous amount of seafood in it.  For ours we had three to four prawns and a gigantic mussel in it.  For those who prefer milder Tomyum instead of those who will made you sweat and tear up after gulping, just not worry and you will enjoy this pot.

Moved inside to continue with our dessert as it started raining awhile later.  Lucky thing we have finished our main dishes.
Thubthim Krob (Red Ruby)
One of my favourite Thai dessert!  The coconut milk made the entire bowl sinfully yummy.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Not to forget some silly selfies routine.  Never hate the sun for emitting harmful rays as it always gives an illuminating glow to pictures.  Totally saves time to edit.
Some said I talked a lot.  Yes I am, sometimes I just happened to go overboard, both entertaining while annoying more than I should when I am at cloud nine or simply just feel like doing it to keep boredom at bay.  However when I am quiet or in the middle of isolation that does not mean I am emotional or breaking down.  It may be I am at a not so stable state (not the mentally ill kind kay!) into reflecting and rethinking life, getting some rest like how an introvert would since I am one (you can doubt that because everybody does), looking back at the past a little while anticipating and sketching my future which require to be left alone.   Appreciate those advices, wise words and positive vibes people could give but then sometimes those will only lead you to another leap of confusion which adds on to the trouble.
Nonchalance is bliss.

Didn't want to end the wonderful evening so fast, headed to Starbucks Batu Feringghi again to continue our endless bonding session since its just on the way.  Not really a fan of Starbucks but then apparently this newly opened outlet is my favourite chillax spot.  Also love their Affogato which is something I do not really favour at other places.
Stay awesome till I'm back here!

Ling's 21st Birthday Celebration @ Korean Table All Ban | The Cream & Fudge Factory

Annyeonghaseyo!
Back in May we decided to catch up for lunch  to celebrate Ling's 21st birthday at a newly opened Korean restaurant suggested by *raises hand*.   Korean Table All Ban is housed within the second floor of The Northern All Suite Hotel with a pretty good ambience I would say especially for gatherings.  However, selections are quite limited during the time of our visit and without any ala carte dishes made available yet, we were only able to choose between two sets.
Mei Lin, Ling (limelight of the day), Jia Yi, CeYi, Jocelyn and Jonathan

Priced at either Seok Chan RM29.90 (9 dishes) or Man Chan RM39.90 (12 dishes), all of us went for the more economical set.
We were served with 1. Ho Bak Juk / Pumpkin Porridge which most of them dislike since they prefer to have chinese style porridge instead of this type but I find it pretty decent, 2. Salad with house dressing for a simple and refreshing start, 3. Jeon/ Korean Pancake was quite a disappointment because it was not pan fried till crisp, thus, not much flavours were brought out as it supposed to yet stickiness remained at certain parts, 4. Kimchi Jiggae finally we were served with something that makes an impression with avalanche of flavours.  All of us agreed that this pot of goodness was filled with optimum spiciness, sourness and salty flavours with a generous amount of tofu and vegetables.

5. Got Jeol Li / Fresh Kimchi
Unlike other restaurant, we were told that their kimchi is freshly prepared every day instead of the usual ones which are fermented. Thus, its crunchiness.  If you must know this is refillable.

6. Spicy BBQ Chicken and Sweet Charcoal Pork BBQ
The barbequed chicken and pork were among our favourite dishes.  Taste is more towards the sweeter side despite being labelled as spicy.

7. Jap Cheh /Glass Noodles
Here is another pleasurable dish with julienned vegetables, sweet and savory sauce to go wth the springy glass noodles.

8. Bibimbap (mix vegetable rice)
For those who are afraid of being not full enough no worries, here is a giant portion of tummy-filler to make sure that you will be satisfyingly full.  All of us could barely finish such a monstrous portion but I personally love their in house leafy rice since it is not something that is usually seen at other Korean restaurants.  Some among us find it too sticky though.

Abundant of Banchan to spoil our choice.
Everyone was eating away happily.  Nobody notices my camera at all.
Oh hey!  Finally you noticed me!
Makgeoll
Some alcohol to *cheers* with the girl who turned 21 on the day.

Watermelon with some sweet treats
Group picture
Happy 21st birthday my friend, I wish we can continue counting on our friendship throughout times and may all your wishes come true.
Ling's birthday cake
Signing off with a cup of creamy indulgence.

TAO道 Buffet @ Penang Times Square

Sponsored Review

Thanks to TAO for hosting us for the evening

Being a huge fan of Japanese Cuisines, it was rather delightful to be informed that TAO道 has already changed their menu.  Recalling back to time, it has been years since I last dine at  TAO道 which is popularly known for their upscale ALL-YOU-CAN EAT concept that claims to serve authentic Asian cuisines.
Looking around the interior before feasting is a must since it could be seen that TAO道 has put in efforts to furnish their dining area with ample space for your truckload of food.
Totally in love with their zen ambience.

Hot Green Tea, Iced Peach Tea and Orange Juice
Ready to handle temptations?
Since they have 100 plus choices available to select from I will only emphasize on a few favourite dishes according to my preference, okay?  It is definitely impossible for me to eat everything tough I really wanted to but too bad my stomach does not have enough room for all.  So here I am starting off with their:
Awabi Ebiko
あわび えびこ
Get started with a gum exercise appetizer, they are chewy but not overly chewy.  However, though it has some squid or seafood flavours to it, there is nothing much to rate about since the taste is rather straightforward.

Motoyaki Scallop
Here's one of the must have dish.   For those who loves creamy and cheesy dishes would love this.  The hint of herbs and spiciness gave the plain scallop more kick to enjoy, wish it could be spicier.

Crabmeat Cream Cheese
Those who are frequent diners recommended this side dish.  At first we thought it was plain boring to order such simple "Wanton" liked at a buffet that offers much more other exclusive dishes.  After taking a bite, we were proven wrong for underestimating this simple yet not so ordinary dish.  In the core of the crispy Wanton skin are packed with flavourful cream cheese with bursting crab flavours.

Spicy Hamaguri
Thai-inspired stir-fried clams were tingling our senses with its fragrance and it is normal to eat till you lost count of how many little shells you have eaten.

Ika Teriyaki
For squid lovers, do not forget to order their whole squid with teriyaki sauce.

Sashimi Moriawase
Needless I say more about this platter?  The two most important keys of sashimi are freshness and perfectly sliced which TAO totally meet the requirements during our visit.

Crunchy Roll
Of course we could not resist ordering some maki since their displays on the menu were so tempting. Crisps on the outer layer and freshness of stuffed tuna fish in the middle made this a heavenly bite.

Smoked Duck
Japanese cuisine diners will mostly go for either fish or beef dishes.  How about smoked duck breast for a change?  The thinly sliced duck breasts not only does not have that duck odour but it goes really well with the stir fry garlicky sauce.
