Beauty Review: Battle of the Face Powders - featuring ALTHEA Petal Velvet Powder

Sponsored Review
For Korean makeup fanatic like me, I am sure that you guys have already heard of ALTHEA Korea.  Being known for offering authentic Korean products at affordable price, do you know that this amazing brand has recently debuted their very own line of translucent powder?
To be precise their ALTHEA Petal Velvet Powder has been released early this August.

Beautiful readers, I am sure that all of us living in humid weather needs a trusty powder to set our makeup.  Here comes a new contender!
Three main ingredients of this product are Althea, Green Tea and Mandarin Orange.
Main functions of the respective natural ingredients are:
Althea Petals
☝ Revitalizes the skin as its extract is full of antioxidants.
Polyphenols help to protect skin from adverse effects caused by sun exposure and ultraviolet radiation.
👌Saponarin helps skin to repair damaged skin and restore skin elasticity.  In short, it's anti-aging.
Green Tea
Prevents hyperpigmentation.Vitamin A, Vitamin B2 and Catechin are in charge of sebum control
Mandarin Orange
Enriched with Vitamin C, mandarin orange peel oil helps to brighten dullness and prevents dehydration.

I have summarised the best feature of each and every powder product that I personally owned.  Hopefully, this table allows you to make your choice easier.
ALTHEA Petal Velvet Powder - RM16 only
I would say this is the closest alternative to Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder.  In fact, certain aspects (blurring effect, smoothness of powder, girly packaging, puff & scent) of it stood out more than that.
😍
Soothing scent
Fluffy puff
Convenient to bring around
Classy packaging
Super affordable pricing
Finely milled powder
(very velvety when applied)
Recommended to normal to combination skin users.
👉Shop HERE👈

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder - RM20
Although they did not put much effort into decorating its outlook, the powder actually has longer lasting power than ALTHEA's, especially if you have oily skin.  Personally, I do not have to touch up throughout the day when I use this together with my BB cushion.
(available on ALTHEA too!)
😍
Easy to carry around
Finely milled powder
Affordable pricing
Recommended to oily skin users
👉Shop HERE👈

1028 Visual Therapy Ultimate Oil-Control Powder - RM29.90
(available in Drugstores)
The best thing about this is that it comes in a pressed-powder form which is handier when needed to touch ups on the go.  Why?  Thanks to the thoughtful built-in mirror and product particles are unlikely to fly everywhere when it's windy.  I don't think any of you girls fancy the look below right?

😍
Comes with a build in mirror
Pressed powder
(Particles will not fly everywhere)
Sturdy packaging
Compact
Recommended for all types of skin

As for the puffs, ALTHEA's puff is definitely my favorite among all!

HALAL Japanese Buffet Dinner @ G Hotel Kelawai

Invited Food Review
Thanks to GHotel Kelawai for the invitation

Dedicated to Japanese cuisine lovers, you can now enjoy value and quality treats at G Hotel, Kelawai's Japanese Buffet Dinner on Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm till 10.30pm.
The vast selection of food is skillfully prepared by the team headed by Chef Ong Ban Khoon who has more than 25 years experience.  Good news to all our Muslim friends, all dishes prepared are without MSG or alcohol.

To start off, warm your tummy with a hearty bowl of Sake No To-nyu Jiru (Creamy Salmon Miso Soup) or Miso Shiru before devouring more from the selections.
As Sushi and Sashimi are staples of Japanese cuisine, the fresh and well-stocked assortment is available for diners.
Remember the correct way to enjoy your sushi (especially raw ones) or sashimi
1. Dab a little Wasabi + soy sauce on the sashimi,
2. Eat from the most delicately flavored fish (Salmon) and gradually proceed to stronger flavors or fattier fish such as Tuna
3. Have a slice of pickled ginger to wash your palate & to enhance the flavors of every single sushi.
Tip* Wasabi is effective in suppressing microbes and bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
Itadako, Soft Boiled Eggs and Tofu served in tapas style to allow diners to feel like they are having fine dining.

Cold cuts and refreshing seafood (scallops, prawns, mussels) are hard for a seafood lover like me to resist.
For those who loves seafood as well as creamy dishes, drum rolls to the favorite dish of mine, Cheesy Baked Oysters is a must try!
Other highlights available are their Dofu Dengaku which is Tofu cooked using miso sauce topped with Bonito Flakes, I could totally have only this with plain steamed rice!
Chawanmushi and Salmon Teriyaki are also available alongside.
For chicken lovers, their Tori Misoyaki (grilled chicken with miso paste) is very well marinated.
Gyoza (Pan-fried dumpling), Oden (Japanese Fish Cake Stew), Stir-Fried Vegetables with Reckon Chips
For their sweet Japanese Curry Beef and Potato is a good compliment to the Ninniku Yaki Meshi (Japanese Garlic Fried Rice).  Unlike Authentic Indian Curry, the flavors of the Japanese one is less spicy and thicker in texture.

For those who love crispy deep-fried food, Tempura is part of their buffet spread!

Remember when I was a kid, Teppanyaki is my favorite thing to order, typically because I love watching the tricks by the professional chefs who do fork & spatula flipping.  The Action Station somehow reminds me of my childhood, diners can pick their own ingredients (Sliced Beef, Shrimps, Lamb etc.) and enjoy the chef's live show time!

Stressed over work?  The best cure is to indulge in desserts!
Hokkaido Cupcakes with cream are very fluffy and airy.

Chocolate Fountain with condiments is available too!

Zenzai Zai (Sweet Red Bean Soup with Black Sesame Filled Tang Yuan) and Matcha Pastries are worth to expand your tummy space.

We were also given the opportunity to try their signature cocktails
from left:   Pomegranate Mojito, Lychee, and Chilli Lada
Do take note that this is not inclusive in the buffet dinner packages but guest can opt to order them separately.  I highly recommend you to try their sweet and minty Pomegranate Mojito

Kuala Lumpur City should be in your Bucket List 2017

Main reasons you should you come to the Heart of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur in 2017 of Malaysia:

1. Malaysians are well -known FOOD lovers across the globe, whether it is authentic local delicacies, restaurants cuisines, Mamak stalls, night markets, fine dining and Oriental cuisines, you name it, Malaysia has it all!
Famous Ampang Yong Tauhu
Some wallet-friendly street food that could be found at Sri Petaling Pasar Malam (Night Market) which is just nearby Bukit Jalil Stadium.
For my KL Food Hunting Trips, click 1. HERE
                                                            2. HERE
One thing you should not miss in KL City is their Cheese Naan!   So far I had the most sinfully yummy platter at Nathan's Corner.

2. Calling fellow SHOPAHOLICS out there, Kuala Lumpur is the hub of many international brands ranging from apparels, handbags, shoes etc.   Up for luxury products?  Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, Mid Valley Megamall & The Gardens Mall are the few places you should dedicate some time to stroll.

Tip: If you prefer shopping for only designer brands, head straight to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur or Suria KLCC.
Mid-range shoppers can opt to shop at Mid Valley Megamall & The Gardens Mall which are just right beside one another.  They do have an array of selections for super upscale brands as well as affordable ones.

However, do not be freaked out, luxury goods and not all this metropolitan city has to offer. If you are looking for bargains, do check out my personal favorite shopping places which are Petaling Street (Chinatown), night markets and Berjaya Times Square.
Personal favorite: Berjaya Times Square since its fully air conditioned, has quite a number of eateries and offers much better security as compared to shopping outdoors.

For those who tend to get hungry round the clock and would like some places to chill after walking outdoor, there are a few cafes located at walking distance from Petaling Street.   The Toast Co. are famous for their open style toast but they also have a variety of pasta.

3. SIGHTSEEING at  KL Tower's Sky Deck is another great activity option to put into your list if you wish to admire the beauty of the entire city at 421m above ground level.

Famous activities:
- Dining at a 360 degrees Revolving Restaurant
- Admire the view of Kuala Lumpur City one of the highest spots
- Enjoy a 6D movie experience at the XD Theater

4. Be a SPECTATOR for 29th SEA GAMES which will be held in Stadium Bukit Jalil.

Fun fact:  After 16 years, Malaysia will once again play host to the biggest multi-sports event in Southeast Asia. 12 sports will be participated by 11 participating countries this year.

Round of applause to Traveloka for being the Gold Sponsor for SEA Games 2017.
Traveloka is a one-stop site which offers special deals and promotions for both flights and hotels during the SEA Games period.

Whether you are looking for a 5-Stars hotel or a cozy boutique hotel, check them out!
Do take note that they will also have an on-ground booth organizing interesting activities at Bukit Jalil National Stadium during SEA Games.  Do drop by and visit them for further inquiries and latest promotional updates!

5. Starting to melt under the scorching Malaysia weather?   Take a detour (Needed travel time: Less than an hour drive.  Explorers can opt to drive up there or even get there by bus) to GENTING HIGHLANDS to enjoy a cooling and misty atmosphere.

Famous activities at the urban uphill destination:
- Testing their luck at the Casino (Genting is the only legal casino in Malaysia)
- Feast in up scale eatery outlets like the Malaysia's first ever Burger & Lobster
- Claiming themselves as the Highest of all High Street, Sky Avenue Genting now offers you a place to shop till you drop at 6000 feet at the top of the mountain.  Currently, there are already more than 70 retail and dining outlets opened so far.

Tip: For those who wish to get there by Genting's Shuttle bus, you can always check the daily schedules at One Utama Shopping Centre.

What are you waiting for?  Hurry up and check out https://www.traveloka.com/en-my/ for their limited time promotion!  Your exploring journey is just a click away!
